I was surfing the Internet a few years ago and listening to various rumours within the accountancy profession that accountants that do not adapt to the new technologies will not survive the new age of professional services. For example, changes to the Legal Services Act 2007 now allows firms to trade with other professional service companies to form Alternative Business Structures (ABSs). This is where two firms who are working closely together form an ABS. My vision was a partnership between the accountancy side of my traditional business and to develop a new legal service, which meant I could offer a much better deal for my customers who want to focus solely on their business progression and are looking for the most effective way to access professional services.
As one of the first companies in the UK looking at achieving an Alternative Business Structure, I believe that offering the choice of combined accountancy and legal expertise will really provide businesses in the region with a hassle-free holistic “one-Stop-Shop” for professional services. It turns out that my vision was not wrong. I am delighted to report that Askews Legal LLP has now secured, LEXCEL, a recognised legal accreditation from the Law Society that signifies legal excellence within the practice of law firms to show that they comply with an exceptional standard. This accreditation will raise the confidence of our clients. Particularly, that we are working closely to towards achieving an ABS status from the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Kuljeet Sandhu, Solicitor and Head of Litigation and Commercial Legal Services at Askews Legal LLP has confirmed that combining professional services is proving extremely successful for Askews, and we are proud to be achieving some great results for our clients. We have accomplished a really good year of growth and the Lexcel accreditation is a valued reward for a year of hard work. For example, Askews Legal LLP has secured over £18,000 compensation for one client, secured a £55,000 compensation for an Employment Agency client, and successfully defended a professional private individual. Askews Legal LLP has also acted for a public licensee who owns a number of establishments in the country in defending him against enforcement action brought by the Council.
Accountants have long recognised the need to give commercial advice with a view to adding value to a client’s routine requirements. Just as Askews Legal LLP has grown, Askews accountancy firm has also taken giant strides forward after launching an innovative online accountancy. On the technology front Askews have recently been awarded partner status by Sage for reselling Sage One software. We have also put in place an information securtity framework to protect our Clients’ data from any Cyber Crime threats.
To compete in the future, businesses need to grow and innovate by making the necessary investments in talent, technology and infrastructure – With our track record of diversification, Askews is well positioned to help your business succeed. So why not give me a call or send me an email.
